Most of our rings adjust
The majority of the rings on this site have an open back, which means the band does not close into a full circle. You squeeze it gently to make it smaller or ease it open to make it larger, usually across two or three US sizes. If a product page says adjustable, you do not need a ring size to order it.
The ones that need a size
Bridal sets, eternity bands and some birthstone rings are sized. Their product page lists the US sizes we carry, usually 5 to 10. If you are between sizes, go up, not down: a ring that will not pass the knuckle cannot be worn at all, while one that is slightly loose can be padded.
How to measure at home
- Cut a thin strip of paper about 10 cm long.
- Wrap it around the base of the finger, snug but not tight, and mark where the paper overlaps.
- Lay the strip flat and measure to the mark in millimetres. That is the inside circumference.
- Find it in the table below.

Three things that change the answer
- Time of day. Fingers swell in the evening and in hot weather. Measure at the end of the day and you will not end up with a ring that only fits in the morning.
- Knuckle. If your knuckle is much wider than the base of your finger, measure the knuckle too and pick something between the two readings.
- Band width. A wide band feels tighter than a thin one at the same size. For anything over about 6 mm, go half a size up.
Buying it as a gift
If you do not know her size, choose an adjustable ring. Almost every hug ring, message ring and spoon ring on this site is adjustable, and it removes the one thing that turns a gift into a return.
